Hello friends!
I’d like to experiment with forming a small learning/accountability group for people interested in leveling up their programming skills, with some help from a senior engineer (me).
Specifically, learn Git, GitHub, and collaboration in detail.
MOOC: Git for Teams
Why:
When I started working in a team, I had no idea about collaboration tools. Sure, I knew how to use Git/Github/version control (at least a little). But, I didn’t know how to use them in collaboration/teams. Looking back, I wished I had studied this much earlier.
How will it work?:
The group will be a small Discord community of 10-20 people, and will be focused on learning through working on an actual project. The project/app does not matter. Instead, we will focus on using Git and collaborating as a team.
It’s a 12-chapter book. I plan on completing it in 8 weeks (projects included). We can discuss weekly schedule later.
Who should join?
For the initial group, I’m looking for the following:
- People that have some basic familiarity with git and GitHub
- People that are willing to commit at least 8 hours a week to learning
- Time-zones don’t matter. We can work async.
If interested, join: Discord link
